After eliminating General Zod & the other Kryptonian arch-villains, Ursa & Non, Superman leaves Earth to try to find his former home world of Krypton after astronomers have supposedly found it. When he finds nothing but remnants, he returns home to Earth - to find out that Lois Lane is engaged to a relative of his boss, and that Lex Luthor is at it again - after swindling an elderly, terminally ill woman. The psychopathic Luthor, whose plans to destroy California failed because of Superman's heroics, vows vengeance against the Man of Steel and contrives a new sinister plot - using the crystals of Krypton to build a continent that will wipe out most of North America! Embedded in the continent's structure is Kryptonite - the lethal substance that is Superman's only weakness. Upon learning of Luthro's sinister scheme, Superman must again race against time to stop the psychopathic Luthor before millions - possibly billions - are killed.

The Day After Tomorrow

This movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, tidal waves, floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age. At the center of the story is a paleoclimatologist (a scientist who studies the ways weather patterns changed in the past), Professor Jack Hall (Quaid), who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam (Gyllenhaal), who was in New York City as part of a scholastic competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all of the other challenges Dr. Hall faces, he's also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he's nearly the only one going north...

A Moment to Remember (2005) is a touching and interesting. Story evolves around Su-jin (Song Ye-jin from the Art of Seduction, Lovers Concerto, The Classic) and Chul-soo (Jung Woo Sung). Su-jin is a designer, a forgetful one as well. She meets Chul-soo in a convenient store and love blossoms between them soon after. However, throughout the movie you'll get the message that something is not right about Su-jin. Yeap, it turns out that she's suffering from Alzheimer disease (a bit too young for her, right?). Her memory slowly fades away. Chul-soo tries his best to help her but life has to move on. "Do not always feel happy about your life. Life can be cruel and unpredictable". It's definitely unbearable to lose a loved one in the helpless fight against such disease (eating your memory away). There's nothing much can be done but to continue to support them and help them to stay strong. After watching this movie, I really cannot imagine how will I live life on if this "eraser" exists in my brain. Not remembering your family, your friends and even yourself. Well, if it happens, I think I would have forgotten about this issue afterall. So no point worrying now. =) Just cherish and live life everyday as if it's the last one. Yeah! and also cherish the people around you because you'll never know when is the last time you'll be seeing them, in this movie, remembering them.

Spirited Away

Chihiro and her family are on their way to their new house in the suburbs when her father decides to take a shortcut along a lonely-looking dirt road. After getting out of the car and walking along a path for a while, they discover an open-air restaurant filled with food but with no workers or customers present. Mom and Dad don't hesitate to sit down and dig in, but Chihiro senses danger and refuses. As night falls, she is terrified to see the area fill with faceless spirits, but when she runs to find her parents, she discovers that they have been turned into pigs. She is found by a mysterious boy named Haku, who promises to help her. He gets her a job working in a nearby building, which turns out to be a bathhouse for the thousands of Japan's gods and spirits. Though the work is hard and the people strange, she does as well as she can. Her parents, however, are still waiting in the hotel's stockyard, and Chihiro must find a way to break the spell on them before they end up as the main course of some guest's dinner.

Stephen Chow's follow-up to SHAOLIN SOCCER ups the over-the-top action quotient by about three zillion percent. The story is set in 1930s Hong Kong, with Chow as a shaggy-haired, would-be bad guy named Sing, who gets caught up in the middle of a war between the top-hat-wearing Axe gang and the hard scrabble inhabitants of Pig Sty Alley. Chow--who wrote, produced, and directed--doesn't step in as the star here for quite a while, letting the comic duties fly in a myriad of directions: a landlady in curlers (Yuen Qiu) has a yell that can flatten buildings; people get kicked across courtyards and through walls; musician assassins whip ghost sabers from lyre strings, and a mental patient in pink flip-flops named "the Beast" (Leung Siu Lung) catches bullets in his fingers. Buoyed by SOCCER's box office success, HUSTLE uses bigger production values and a dizzying amount of CGI-enhanced martial arts (imagine Bruce Lee vs. Bugs Bunny in THE MATRIX). It's full of references to other films and filmmakers, revering spaghetti westerns and '70s Shaw brothers movies a la Tarantino's KILL BILL (fight choreographer Yuen Wo Ping worked on both films). It also pays sly homage to the works of Wong Kar Wai, D.W. Griffith, Sam Raimi, Jean-Luc Godard, Stanley Kubrick, and Akira Kurosawa. Raymond Wong's inspired score matches each cinematic reference with the appropriate cue as the camera circles and swoops around the sprawling sets. This is a real treat, more than a great action film or comedy, it's a great film period, and one that set box office records in the East.

Julian has lived off with the money he lures from his rich female customers. But now he faces usurious debts from a hasty expansion of his business, and he will be killed unless he clears the debt in one month. The only way to save himself is to pretend to be the long-lost brother of an heiress and kill her to get her huge fortune. Min, the blind heiress, cold-hearted like Julian, slowly opens herself to him, and he, too, falls for her. But Julian has to pay his creditor and what makes it worse for him is that the illness that took Min's eyesight relapsed, threatening her life.

Girls, get ready, this is YOUR movie if you are in your teens or early twenties! The fanciful girl-meet-boy story might have many sending text messages to phone numbers unknown to them; just to try if this magic works for them too. Who knows this might be the very catalyst to your dream of finding your very soul mate in the ever most romantic way…

Guys, if your blood type is B, it is probably in your best interest to pass this movie and let your girl watch it with her girlfriend(s). If you insist on watching, an enactment of one of the scenes might just take place. The Type-B boyfriend dragged his girlfriend out of the movie theatre because he found the movie uninteresting; even though the girlfriend enjoyed it. This is what Type B boyfriends do; a display of ultimate selfishness. Type-B guys are also said to be quite creative, but capricious, conceited, selfish, and sulky.

Shin Lee (Ha-mi's cousin and flatmate) radiates through her role and often stole the limelight from the main leads. Her strong discouragement of Ha-mi seeing Young-bin, stemmed from her unfortunate personal experiences with Type-B guys and detail research of the characteristics of the different blood types males. Though exaggerating, her acting does not irritate and brings about the laughter.

One dating idea stood out strongly; enjoys a sky scraper's elevator ride in superman style. Guys can learn plenty from the various romantic tactics showcased in the movie. Silly ideas but they would work on girls, nonetheless.

It is a pity that some of the humour is lost through the Chinese translation. Language, being an amazing system of communication; does not allow itself to be manipulated to our wish in this instance.

Lee Dong-gun might have just saved himself with his impressive delivery of "And I Love You So". It was a pity he announced recently that he would not sing professionally again. Han Ji-hye redeemed herself with sweetness and innocence when compared to the familiar role of an irksome sister in the Summer Scent, a Korean drama serial. By and large, Lee Dong-gun and Han Ji-hye had continued their success from Sweet 18. This is a must-watch for the candy floss lovers; light and saccharine sweet. But if you are looking for more serious stuff, check out Old Boy instead.

After the brutal death of a friend, a group of friends find themselves in possession of a video-game called "Stay Alive," a blood-curdling true story of a 17th century noblewoman known as the Blood Countess. After playing the game when they know they shouldn't, however, the friends realize that once they die in the game--they die for real. As their numbers begin dropping and as they begin dying in the ways they died in the game, the remaining friends realize they must defeat the Blood Countess or accept their fates.

Andy Lau and Karen Mok star in Wait 'Til You're Older, a funny, heart-felt and sentimental story of one boy's exploration of adult life. Kwong is a young boy coping with a difficult family life. His mother commit suicide when she discovered that her husband, Man (Felix Wong) was having an affair. Since her death Man has married his mistress, Min (Mok), whom Kwong understandably hates. He wishes that he could become an adult so he wouldn't have to do what she says anymore. And as luck would have it, Kwong has a run-in with a strange old man in the park, and accidentally ingests a magical growth formula that causes him to begin aging very rapidly. As an adult, Kwong (played now by Andy Lau) gets to do anything he wants, like stay out late, get drunk or even flirt with his sexy teacher, Miss Lee (Cherry Ying). But he doesn't stop growing and within a couple of days Kwong has become an old man. The film contemplates the difficulties of family life, of raising children, of growing up, and facing death, which, anchored by Lau's strong central performance, makes for a touching and entertaining experience

LAPD cops Jack Traven and Harry Temple rescue a group of executives trapped in a sabotaged elevator, thus foiling mad bomber Howard Payne's ransom demands. The Host

The film revolves around Park Hee-bong (played by Byun Hee-bong), a man in his late 60s. Park runs a small snack bar on the banks of the Seoul's Han River and lives with his two sons, one daughter and one granddaughter. The Parks seem to lead a quite ordinary and peaceful life, or maybe a tad bit poorer than the average Seoulite. Hee-bong's elder son Gang-du (by Song Gang-ho) is an immature and incompetent man in his 40s, whose wife left home long ago. Nam-il (by Park Hae-il) is the youngest son, an unemployed grumbler, and daughter Nam-joo (by Bae Du-na) is an archery medalist and member of the national team. One day, an unidentified mutant suddenly appears from the depths of the Han River and spreads panic and death, and Gang-du's daughter Hyun-seo is carried off by the monster and disappears. All the family members are in a great agony as they have lost someone dearest to them. But as they find out she is still alive, they resolve to save her.
